Now more than ever we understand your reliance upon us to look after your gas and electricity network to ensure your energy keeps flowing during this unprecedented time; the work our teams do is critical to ensure this, which is why the government identifies the work we do as essential. We know these are challenging times and we all need to work differently.


We are prioritising:

- Keeping our customers and teams safe

- Keeping your energy flowing

- Looking after those most in need



If the work our employees do can be done from home, we are insisting that they work from home. However, some of the work we do means this simply is not possible. Where our teams can only carry out their job by leaving the house, we are insisting they follow social distancing rules. Where applicable, we are asking customers some additional questions when we may need to enter premises; it does not necessarily mean that we will not attend, but it will allow us to ensure we take any necessary precautions to keep everyone safe.



We are prioritising the work we do to make sure you continue to receive a safe and reliable energy supply. If you see us outside your home or if we have to visit your property during this emergency situation, be assured it is because it is critical. The work we do keeps you safe and warm. Any work outside your home or visit to you (following appropriate checks and measures in place) will be absolutely necessary to keep the lights on and your home heated.



If you are an ‘at risk’ person who has received a letter from the NHS advising you to take additional measures to protect yourself from COVID-19, then we suggest that you consider signing up for the Priority Services Register. This provides free additional services to customers in vulnerable circumstances if there is a power cut. To find out more about the Register click here or contact your energy supplier, whose number should be on your energy bill.


As the government’s response to the coronavirus pandemic develops, we are continuing to keep our approach under careful review. We will always take an approach which safeguards the health and wellbeing of our customers and colleagues, while maintaining a safe and reliable supply of energy.
